Memorandum of Cooperation with the Child Protection Network

On September 15, Astghik Karapetyan, President of Point 33 NGO, and Elena Harutyunyan, Executive Director of the Child Protection Network, signed a cooperation memorandum.

The agreement highlights the importance of expanding a family-friendly environment in workplaces, medical institutions, leisure venues, and other public spaces.

The main areas of cooperation will include raising awareness and advocating for a family-friendly environment, as well as expanding opportunities for workplaces to become family-friendly or to adopt family-friendly policies and approaches, through the provision of consultations and other tools.

Following the signing of the memorandum, the parties discussed upcoming joint actions, with further details to be shared.

Meeting with the Czech “Aperio” Healthy Parenting Association

On September 3, in Prague, the president of “Point 33,” Astghik Karapetyan, met with Halka Jaklova, the deputy director of the Czech “Aperio” Healthy Parenting Association, a lawyer, and single parents expert.

 

The visit to Prague and the meeting were organised within the framework of the “Making the family-friendly workplace workable” project, which is implemented with the financing of the European Union.

 

During the meeting, the Czech and Armenian experiences with family-friendly policies were discussed: flexible working hours and conditions, paid leave, childcare support, etc. The information obtained from the discussion will be included in the research carried out within the “Making the family-friendly workplace workable” project. The research is about family-friendly workplaces and will be finalised and published soon.

 

Issues of further cooperation and implementation of joint projects were also discussed during the meeting.

Meetings in the European Parliament

Astghik Karapetyan, the president of the Point 33 informative advocacy NGO, participated in various meetings and discussions with high-ranking EU officials in the European Parliament (Brussels, Belgium) from March 3 to 8 as a European Parliament Sakharov fellow.

There were roundtable discussions with the vice-presidents of the European Parliament, Heidi Hautala and Martin Hojsik. Issues related to human rights and human rights defenders’ problems in different countries were discussed.

There were meetings with the representatives of the European Parliament President’s cabinet, the European External Action Service, the European Commission, EU Member States diplomats and other officials.
