Lusine Kocharyan
Public Health Professional, Researcher
Lusine Kocharyan is a medical doctor and public health professional with over two decades of experience in epidemiology, health policy, and humanitarian program management. She has served in key leadership roles within the Armenian Ministry of Health, including as Secretary General, Acting Head of the Health Care Policy Department, and Director of the National TB Control Centre, where she coordinated national strategies for tuberculosis prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Beyond government service, she has led disaster management and social-health programs at the Armenian Red Cross Society, guiding emergency operations, system reviews, and volunteer mobilization.
Currently, Lusine works as a consultant on public health and qualitative research projects with UN agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions, and also serves as a lecturer at Yerevan State Medical University, teaching both undergraduate and graduate students. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications in international journals on infectious disease control, TB program performance, and health system challenges. She is also engaged in qualitative studies on health entrepreneurship and reproductive health.
Her professional contributions have been recognized with multiple high-level state awards, including the Presidential Award “Mkhitar Heratsi” for outstanding contributions to public health during conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic.
